In the past month, my husband has deployed and I announced my candidacy for City Council in my home town of Imperial Beach! It's been exciting, stressful, a ton of hard work, and so incredibly rewarding. It's times like these that we, as women, really get to know ourselves and truly see what we're made of. There were so many times that when in between caring for Isla full time, volunteering, public events, and campaigning that I wanted to just crawl into my bed and call it a day. As moms, however, it's just not possible. Our little ones make it difficult to quit at anything, things need to be done in order for us to maintain our lives. Single moms and military spouses, we understand this struggle because there is literally no one else to fall back on. It's up to you.
Remembering to slow down and enjoy our lives can be hard. I'm a one-track-mind kind of person and I'm not really one to enjoy an interruption in my plan. Toddlers don't care about your plans, however, so we take breaks and field trips to the beach as much as possible. It's just not possible to be stressed out at the beach. Here we're pictured at the crown jewel of Imperial Beach, the pier. This is where our community gathers to eat, surf, and make beautiful memories.
The weather here is perfect, as per usual. It's cooled down significantly from last month and wearing a light jacket or cardigan is absolutely dreamy. I picked up this cardigan at H&M because it's mom-friendly and doubles as workwear. I paired it here with some fun pink shorts and a white top but I also love to wear it over some white dress pants (or capris?) and a white blouse.
Banding together as women and working moms is so important. That is why I am so excited to announce my collaboration with the Fresh Mommie Blog. This woman is a superstar, let me tell you. She is the genius behind these photos and she does it all with three beautiful children and a smile on her face. Cheers to a new friendship and role model for our girls!
